
Alfonso Pasquale DeIuliis (Diulus) was for much of his life an entrepreneur and one who had no problem struggling to learn and earn working long hours as a common laborer in order to underwrite and set out on his own path. He remains today the quintessential everyman/everywoman who passed through Ellis Island in the late 19th Century.
Alfonso was the quintessential new arrival to Ameria. He was hardworking, ambitious, and a risk taker -The very attributes that define America's national psyche' and entrepreneurial spirit.
Arriving in New York in the late 1880's, Alfonso was a man of drive, determination. He possessed a burning desire that his children and his children's children had every education advantage both life and freedom in America could possibly provide.
Alfonso DeIuliis came in search of a dream. His name was involuntarily changed by immigration officials seeking to spell what he was pronouncing, actually made it easier to assimulate and easier to do business in his new homeland. As a student of life, he summed up education this way:

The DiUlus Institute stands in memory of Alfonso, his sons and daughters and all hard working people worldwide. His name represents the common bond of immigrant American families who helped build the United States into the great nation it has become. These courageous, selfless men and women empower us to shine the light of knowledge for all who would follow their example.
